PFAS 101 and Impacts to Local Waterways

The consequences of PFAS pollution are still in the process of being understood and means of mitigation under development. This talk will provide an overview of PFAS sources and the impacts to waterways. Key items to be discussed include: typical sources of PFAS pollution; how PFAS impacts waterways; general status of PFAS regulations at the Federal and state level; current mitigation options and approximate cost of treatment; next steps as environmental professionals to support your clients impacts by PFAS mandates and regulations.
Presenter: Ms. Elizabeth Colletti works at ASA Analysis and Communication Inc. as a licensed Professional Engineer with over 13 years of experience in the environmental consulting industry. She has a Master's in City Planning with a focus on Environmental Land Use and Resource Allocation and specializes in environmental compliance in the water sector. She has supported utilities, municipalities, and statewide programs in their efforts to streamline their compliance programs and manage their permit submissions, monitoring requirements, and renewals. As the chair of the Government Affairs Committee for the Chesapeake Water Environment Association, she has spent the last two years delving into the regulatory landscape of PFAS and understanding its pervasiveness and where we are in the effort to remove it from the environment.
