PENNSYLVANIA POLICIES AND PLANS FOR REDUCING GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS

The GreenGov Council’s mission is to incorporate sustainable practices into Commonwealth government’s policy, planning, operations, procurement, and regulatory functions, and to strive for continuous improvement in efficiency and performance. Under Executive Order 2019-01, GreenGov works with commonwealth agencies meet specific goals to reduce energy consumption, purchase electric vehicles, procure renewable energy, and construct new buildings and major renovations to green standards.  

Join the January 2025 webinar to learn more about the program and where state government is with its sustainability and climate goals.  Mark Hand and Matt Reis will share details of some ongoing projects they have been working on to drive deeper environmentally sustainable outcomes in commonwealth operations.  

Presenter(s):  Mark Hand serves as the Director of Pennsylvania’s GreenGov Council within the Department of General Services. Prior to GreenGov, Mark worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for almost 19 years. Mark spent most of his time at DEP within the Energy Programs Office, which is involved in supporting, designing and implementing energy-focused programs to encourage the development and deployment of energy efficiency and alternative energy projects in Pennsylvania.  In that time, Mark worked on various programs and initiatives for DEP; such as, Drive Electric PA Coalition, the Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant Program, Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority grants, and many others over those years.  Mark graduated from Juniata College and now lives in Halifax, Pennsylvania, which is also his hometown.  

Matt Reis serves as the Deputy Director of Pennsylvania GreenGov Council. Prior to GreenGov, Matt most recently served the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) in various roles for approximately 6 years where he was ultimately responsible for the delivery of vertical construction projects, fiscal facilities budget, and annual facility maintenance operations. In the 10 years prior to his time at PennDOT, Matt held roles within the Pennsylvania Department of the Auditor General where he was responsible for facility operations as well as the oversight of office services for the Department including supplies, surplus, automotive, duplicating and facility maintenance.  Matt is an alumnus of St. Vincent College of Latrobe, Pennsylvania and resides in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania with his wife and daughter.

 Note: Registration is for one entrant. Any other individuals who would like to join this session are required to complete their own registration forms. The registration fee is set per person, not per connection.

PAEP Members - Webinars are free to current members but you will still need to register.

Non-Members – the fee for the webinar is $20 per person.

Government/Agency - the fee for webinar is $10 per person. 

Registrants will be sent an email confirming registration with log in information to event . You will also get another email closer to the date of the event, providing information on how to join the webinar.
